It's Day 16 of the 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge. I'm still a little 'behind' on the challenge goal...but WAY ahead of my regular pace, so I'm good with that! Plus, I'm pretty close...and I made THREE more frames this evening. I'm still shooting for 30 paintings. (Or 20!) Links to my prior posts are over in the sidebar. I have three art events coming up (details soon) so painting and framing is pretty much all I'm working on! Here is the painting for today. I love these guys! I wish my pictures were better today. (They're not.) These got frames: I will be adding at least two more paintings tomorrow!
The blog will be mostly just chronicles from my studio for the next couple of months while I crank out these paintings for upcoming events. Juggling all these plates is still very new to me, but there are big plans for this blog and its content in 2015! Weekly report on my painting progress: I've finished a few new paintings this week and added them to the 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge. Look over to the right and read my prior posts about the challenge if you're interested! Today I'm sharing 2 of the new paintings from this week...AND 2 other paintings I made frames for! I sawed and drilled AND hammered on these frames! I'm really proud of them because they are my first two attempts. Ever. The challenge ends 10/8 and I'll continue to share new paintings along the way. TWO NEW PAINTINGS: Here are the other paintings completed for the challenge so far: TWO NEW FRAMES: Thanks for checking out my art again this week!
Now go make something yourself! (If you want to.) And then share it with me. I'd love to see! amymclainart@gmail.com Well, it's DAY 10 of the 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge! Check out my prior posts about the challenge if you're not familiar. (But I'll pretty much cover it.) Here are three more completed paintings. This makes 7 paintings in 10 days. Pretty fair! Way more are in progress and I still intend to hit the goal of 30 paintings by 10/8! (Or not. But maybe!) In my last post i said I would share what I'm learning about my art and myself. Here are a few things things that come to mind as I write this:
PRO: This challenge is really pushing me to call paintings 'complete', which is kind of an area of opportunity for me. And that's exciting. (Woo!) OBSERVATION:
CON: I'm not having that much fun, folks! I'm enjoying the painting aspect...but, yeah. Not enjoying the pressure overall...but even more, I'm not loving the completed artworks. It's hard to rush something and love it. Maybe I don't have to love it. OBSERVATION:
CONCLUSION: I'll keep going and I intend to kill this thing! See PRO above. It's gonna be beneficial! (Or not. But maybe!) Here are the first 4 paintings I completed for the challenge in case you missed 'em. This is an update to the 30 Paintings In 30 Days challenge I started on 9/8. I'm just under the wire on Day 4. Today I'm posting paintings 3 and 4! I'm also evaluating what I've learned so far. I'll share the pros and cons of this thing when I share paintings 5 and 6. DAY 3DAY 4ALL:Hello! As I mentioned yesterday, I have accepted one of these 30 Paintings in 30 Days challenges. Well, it started today! Since it is nearly midnight, I will post today's completed painting...AND the one I just finished for tomorrow. Yeah, I said it. I don't know about 30 paintings in 30 days yet, but I'm already surprised by 2 paintings in 2 days! DAY 1DAY 2I also haven't quite decided how I will share the paintings for the challenge yet. I'll probably stay true to form and share here and on Facebook. If anyone wants to join me, do it! And continue to check back if you're interested in my progress.
So now a few of my art peers are doing various '30 PAINTINGS in 30 DAYS' challenges... I immediately said no way, of course. Then my friend and accountability buddy Sam asked me to do it with her. So here I am. I can't imagine finishing a painting every day but I'm going to try! And I expect to learn some things about myself and my art in the process. I'll also tell you a little secret: I'm going whole hog on this challenge...but I'll be THRILLED to get 20 (or 15!) paintings done in 30 days. Should I admit that? I just did. Woo! I've maybe finished one painting in a single day two times? Ever? I'm publishing this blog the night before the challenge starts.
I will finish the first painting by noon tomorrow, 9/8. DAY 1. |
