I've had the good fortune of living in both Austin, Texas AND Portland, Oregon. Both as an adult. And both places (as demonstrated above) like to 'keep it weird'. I guess they succeed, too....I mean, I come from pretty weird stock, so I'm not the best judge! Fact is, both cities are the cream of the crop as far as I'm concerned. Don't trust anyone who says otherwise. They're up to something. This dawned on me last week, though: I spent the majority of my adult years in Austin. (Woo!) But as of 10/03/14, that will change when Portland inches past Austin in the 'years resided' category! Now THAT'S weird! It feels a bit like a break up, Austin. (But not one that stings TOO bad because I've been cheating for a while now!) Let's be friends. And...scene. I've worked on a ton of new art all month. I'll start rolling it out in September...it's going to be a good Fall (y'all)! This week I'm sharing a ditty that relates to 1. embracing the weird, and 2. moving FORWARD without fear. FAST FORWARD: August 2014 Then I heard (in my own voice), "It doesn't matter...but you've gotta own it, girl!" SO... Now I present to you...12 years in the making: Piglet With Bees (Not To Scale) The End (Nailed it!) If this is your first time here, look at my art gallery and other blogs, too! Do YOU love what you're working on today? You can leave a comment below either way. I've been asked to participate in an 'Artists Around The World' blog hop. Come back 9/1 to see what I have to say about my purpose and my process. Muddy Waters He's the best yellow dog around. And now the trilogy is complete. HISTORY: Last Fall, when rain was on the pavement, I gently dragged my boyfriend to a 'Paint Your Pet' night at The Loaded Brush. That resulted in these. We get total joy out of them. Mike was not initially amped up for this outing because he's "not an artist". I say, "Yeah, right!" This is his. Wow! Here is my initial version.
We have enjoyed both of these paintings so much. Still, we've known the series could never be complete without a third representation. Of the other side. And today, 08/05/2014, this happened: In conclusion...let's see, I guess go squeeze your pets! Oh, and make something fun today! Even if it kind of sucks. Seriously, go do it! The month of August may be hit and/or miss on the blog frequency...but I've got a ton of new art completed and on the way. I also bought a piece of Chris Haberman art last week! I can't pick it up for a few more weeks but I can't wait to share. As always, send me an email or leave comment below! Anything you want to see happen? amymclainart@gmail.com |
