Before I jump in: This is such a big deal for me! I'm excited and grateful and proud. These four pieces of 4'x4' art depicting local legend Linus Pauling are now part of the permanent collection at Revolution Hall...and one of them is MINE! I'm so honored to be included with this batch of artists! This venue is GORGEOUS and the lighting for viewing art is incredible. It's not quite as incredible for taking photos, apparently. You've really gotta see these in person! Linus Pauling is the only person to win the Nobel Prize TWICE. Once for Chemistry and the Peace Prize for his activism. Many people know him (unofficially) as the 'Vitamin C Guy'!
He attended high school at what is now Revolution Hall, a beautifully renovated concert and performing arts venue. Revolution Hall is also home to Martha's Cafe & Bar...AND they've got a rooftop bar with incredible views Portland! So go see a show or eat some food or have some drinks or look at the view...and see some art while you're there! (There's a dog park right outside...so you can probably squeeze some dogs, too.) Big thanks to Chris Haberman for always having faith in my art even when I was just starting out and had a ton to learn! Thanks to Jim Brunberg as well...and everyone at Revolution Hall. Jim built those gorgeous frames for such large pieces! And thank you to everyone who continues to support me. Seriously, thank you. I work super hard and being artist is definitely comes with the highest of highs and the lowest of lows at times! ALL WORTH IT. ...and here's a video of a red panda being scared by a rock! Thanks for checking in!
I'm doing pet portrait commissions and other random fun art all the time. Get in touch if I can make something for you! Buckman Elementary
320 SE 16th Ave, Portland, Oregon 97214 3/11, 10a-5p 3/12, 11a-4p Buckman website Facebook event page Thanks! Well, I hope your year is off to a great start. (Insert all the other things you're supposed to say in January here!) Mostly good luck to us all! I've got my goals all set! I plan to crush them...and I'm also prepared so that they don't crush me, hopefully! I'm off to a solid start, and I've got a few things coming up: I'm still doing pet portraits full time. Here are a couple of my more recent ones. See more and get one of your very own right HERE. My pet portraits continue to be a more realistic version of your pet than the random art I do to hang in local spots. Here are some examples of the non-commissioned work I do. My fun, random paintings can be found at assorted restaurants, bars and gallery shows around Portland, OR Coming up: I'll have three dog paintings in a show honoring dogs in Feb/Mar at Ford Gallery I'll share the space with 14 other artists. Should be awesome! The Buckman Art Show & Sell is March 11-12. I intend to have both art prints and art originals at The Buckman this year. Once these commitments are completed I will make it easier to purchase my random art pieces and prints directly from this site. Until then, contact me if you would like a commission! I'd love to do it.
...for the 9th Annual Big 500 Art Show! This is my 4th year participating in this awesome show. The Big 500 isn't your regular art show, though...this one is an EVENT! Over 500 artists have completed up to 20 pieces of 8"x8" art. This year there are over 6000 pieces of art (I heard)! All $40/each. Here are my 15 pieces: The beauty of this event, aside from part of the proceeds going to the food bank...is that ALL art is hung at random. None of it has title cards or artist names (other than on the back). That means you've got beginner artists mixed in with local celebrity artists for an even playing field! So you give a new artist a confidence boost...or you get a high end piece of art for $40! It's all the same here! There are bagpipes and a parade to open the event and people line up to try to get the piece they've been eyeing on social media. So get there early! But if you don't, the show will be up for a few weeks and there are always INCREDIBLE pieces available until the final day. I'm working diligently on holiday PET PORTRAITS. I'm now taking orders for 2017 if you would like to have one of your very own. In conclusion, here is what is probably my favorite animal video of all time. I've watched it so much! <3 It never stops filling my heart with joy. It's official. The season of giving has arrived. Today I'm giving thanks. For pets. I just love them so much. Even when they're kinda bad! Here is mine: I'm not just grateful for my own land shark, either: I'm grateful for other peoples' pets and their animal videos! I can't remember what life was like before them. People used to go their entire lives without seeing a bunny eating a dandelion in slow-mo. I HOPE ALL OF YOU HAVE A SAFE AND DELICIOUS THANKSGIVING! My next public art event is the 9th Annual Big 500 Show December 10.
